Supporting Our Musicians
With voluntary contributions from the CDNY community, the Board of Directors has established a special fund to support the musicians of CDNY who have lost income in the time of COVID-19. If you are a musician who’s been on our calendar and is interested in doing an online performance for pay, or if you would like to donate to such a fund please click HERE for more information.
A Musical Gift to the Community
Even though the Playford Ball was cancelled, the music for it was recorded by three outstanding CDNY musicians: Cynthia Shaw, piano and harpsichord; Naomi Morse, violin; and Gene Murrow, concertina and recorder. While the CD normally sells for $10, CDNY’s Board of Directors has opted to make a gift of that music to our community as another way to keep the music and dance that sustain us present in our lives. To access a free download of the Ball recording, click HERE. If you have the means and are so disposed, you can also make a free-will donation to help support the musicians who played in the past season for CDNY.
In-person programming suspended
During this Coronavirus pandemic, CD*NY is suspending all in-person programming, both Contra and English. Although we are still learning about the virus, we know it is primarily spread person to person through respiratory droplets. Both close contact (< 6 ft.) and hand touching increase the risk of spreading the infection. We believe it is our collective responsibility to help keep one another safe and healthy.
We will post updates on this site.
Memberships extended
Because we don’t yet know when it will be safe to dance together again, all active memberships are being extended. Until further notice, current memberships will not expire.
