The Country Dance * New York Gotham Assembly is an annual mid-year dance celebration. The program is made up of dances selected by vote of the dancing members of CD*NY. The Mistress of Ceremonies, translating the public's choices into a delectable program, will be Beverly Francis; and Robin Russell and Tom Phillips will provide the music.

Contrashock II brings you Perpetual e-Motion, Elixir, Nils Fredland, Will Mentor for three great dances. Friday, September 21, dance 7-11p.m. at PS 199; Saturday, September 22 at Chinatown Y Houston Street Center, experienced dance 5:45 - 7:45 and general dance 9 to midnight, with a beginner session at 8:30. English dancing is again on the move.  We will try a new location for three dances in January – January 9, 23, and 30.  Note that there is no dance the week of January 16 because of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.  The new location is the Lincoln Square Neighborhood Center, 250 West 65^th Street.  We will dance from 7 to 10 p.m. (we need to stop in time to get everything cleaned up by 10:30).  The closest subway is the #1 at 66^th Street.  There is some street parking…

As many know, we received a reprieve from being evicted from the Coltoff Center where we have English dances Tuesday evenings.  We will be able to dance there through December at least.  This is a great relief, and means you can continue to come to the place you're used to.  However, we still need to find a replacement hall for after December.  As Kate said in her earlier blog, we are looking for a place with:

• Wooden floor (ideally a "sprung" floor)
• Sufficient space…
