Contra dancers arriving on September 8 and at subsequent dances will need to SIGN IN at the desk downstairs before proceeding to the gym. It shouldn't be too bad--they're not asking for ID or patting people down--but you might want to arrive earlier to allow for a backup. And smile!

I'm CD*NY's liaison to the Chinatown YMCA, and I've learned that because of intense financial pressure the Y may soon have to increase our rent beyond what we can afford. We're okay until the end of this season (January 26) but it's time to start looking again for a great place to have our contra dances. Please help by giving us information about halls you are aware of. Reminders of halls you suggested before are welcome - each search is different so an old idea may look good in new light.…

On Tuesday December 6 we will be dancing at the DiMenna Center for Classical Music, which shares a brand-new building at 450 West 37th St., Manhattan, with the Baryshnikov Arts Center. We'll be dividing the evening between the smaller room (smaller than Coltoff) and the larger one. The smaller one, of course, is the one we can afford without too much difficulty, and we want to see how it works with the number of people we usually get on a Tuesday.
