CD*NY Playford Ball 2025

The 2025 Country Dance * New York Playford Ball will be held on Saturday, April 5th.

Our Masters of Ceremony are Gene Murrow and Orly Krasner.

We are very pleased to have Persons of Quality (Jon Berger, Rebecca King and Jim Oakden) for our evening dance: Cynthia Shaw will play for our afternoon walk-through.

The Dances

The afternoon review session on the day of the Ball will run from 2:00 to 4:00 PM, followed by a break for dinner. The Ball starts at 7:00 PM and ends at 11:00 PM.

Persons of Quality is a trio of talented musicians who bring English Country Dance music to life with enthusiasm and imagination. They play a wide variety of instruments, giving each tune a vivid and rhythmic treatment that is both wonderful to listen to and a pleasure to dance to.

Location, Transportation, Parking: The Ball will be held at Good-Shepherd Faith Presbyterian Church, 152 W 66th St, NYC, on New York’s Upper West Side. The venue is close to the 66 St-Lincoln Center subway stop and several bus lines. Google Maps and the mta.info site can give you detailed travel directions.

Street parking may be available; we suggest using an app (e.g. SpotHero) that can reserve spots nearby. There is a parking garage immediately next to the church.

Registration
Advance registration is required. Attendance may be limited, with priority given through February 8 to CD*NY members and to CDSS members who live 50 miles or more from NYC. Admission is $45 per dancer ($25 for full-time students).

Playford Ball Prep Sessions

There will be minimal teaching and prompting during the Ball. Dancers enhance everyone’s pleasure by being thoroughly familiar with the program before the Ball.
Prep sessions will be held at CD*NY’s usual dance location: Church of the Village, 201 W. 13th St, just west of Seventh Avenue.
Dates: Tuesdays, March 4, 11, 18*, 25; April 1* , all from 7:00 pm to 10:00 pm; and Friday, March 28* from 7:30 to 10:30 pm.

*These dates will focus solely on Ball repertoire. Other dates will also include non-Ball dances.

CANCELLATIONS before March 1 receive 100% refund. Between March 1 and March 15, 50% refund; after March 15, we appreciate your contribution to the ball.
