Summer Dancing In and Around NYC !
Since our dance hall gets too hot to bear during the summer we take a break. However, there are other places to dance English Country and contras until we come back. Since schedules and locations may be flexible we strongly suggest you check the dance’s website before you depart.
CONTRA DANCING
Contra dances sponsored by CDNY go on vacation between June 9 (the last dance) and September 8. However, you can find out what other dances are like this summer, and return to CDNY in the fall.
Check out these possibilities:

September 4 – but there is dancing nearby.

DANCE CAMPS
One of the best ways to get your dancing during the summer is to go to a week of dance camp. There
are two organizations that run them in the East and several in the West. Among the best are:
Country Dance and Song Society Inc. – https://www.cdss.org/programs/dance-music-song-camps
– American dance and music, English dance and music, early music, harmony of song and dance for
the singers, and a number of family-oriented camps, all in delightful settings.
Ashokan Fiddle and Dance Camps – http://ashokan.org/camps/ Northern, Southern,
Western/Swing, Family, klezmer, bluegrass and guitar weeks in a rustic setting.
TradMad Week at Pinewoods – http://www.tradmadcamp.org/ Will include contra dance, English
dance, and lots of singing and music, in the wonderful environment of Pinewoods Camp.
For other dances in the area and elsewhere, including camps and festivals of all
kinds, see http://www.contradancelinks.com/
For updates on CD*NY’s great series of fall dances, check our website periodically over the
summer: cdny.org. See you back at the Church of the Village in September!
