Survey, In-Person Events, Vaccination, and Your Comfort

In the NYC metro area, Covid infections are down and vaccination rates are up. The CD*NY board is discussing when and how to resume in-person events.

We all want to dance as soon as we can, and the board is cautiously optimistic that we’ll be able to dance in the fall. But uncertainty remains. Below are some things we’re thinking about as we discuss how and when to resume in-person events at CD*NY. In addition, we need to hear from you.

Please help us understand your wishes and needs about CD*NY’s re-entry by responding to this survey by Sunday, July 11. It takes around 5 minutes to complete. You can choose to record your name or submit your response anonymously.

Thanks for helping CD*NY emerge safe and strong from our COVID disruption!

What we know

  • Vaccinations are a powerful tool to protect people from COVID-19 and reduce its spread.
  • Vaccines are increasingly readily available in NYC.
  • There is more and more evidence showing the safety of events where all participants are vaccinated.
  • Case numbers are dropping, and community spread is decreasing.

What we don’t know

  • Pandemic circumstances, applicable regulations, or other variables could change between now and September, when we would traditionally resume dancing.
  • Comfort level with different types of in-person events will vary from one community member to another.
  • Location and capacity constraints will likely play a role.

What we’re doing

  • We are surveying our membership on a range of COVID-related issues, including comfort with different in-person event scenarios.
  • We expect that we will need to require vaccination status for our events.
  • We continue to monitor external guidance and best practices from CDSS and others.

What you can do

  • Get vaccinated! Talk to your doctor if you have questions. Find a local vaccination site near you at vaccines.gov
  • Encourage your friends and family to get vaccinated! The more of our community that gets vaccinated, the sooner we will be able to dance.
  • Fill out this survey! Please respond quickly so we can plan accordingly.
  • Be prepared to register your vaccination status with us, as soon as possible, in order to attend our events when we return.
